Story of the 47DX/SJ008 to Oroe Island.

Well we are safe back home from our trip to Oeoe Island.
We had a great time over there with sunshine, heavy winds and a short rain period.

But here goes, a small resume follows..

We drove from home QTH early in the morning.
The first stop was at the QTH of Mr. Carsten 47dx132. He was kindly lending us his Bambi antenna and powerful battery. Tnx Carsten.

The first day of the activation on Oroe Island, was very windy, but at least the sun was shining down on us.
The DX camp was quickly set up and on the air at 08:00 UTC. We had about 30 in the log, in the first hour of the activation, nice. But propagation went down fast from 09:00 UTC and we decided to take down the camp and make a quick drive around the island at 10:30 UTC (12:30 danish time).

Later that day about 14:00 UTC, the DX camp was up again, at same location as in the start of the day. But the propagation was poor and we ended the day and got of air at 16:00 UTC.
The wind picked up and the Bambi was struggling in the wind. Therefore we went to a camp sight nearby, to stay for the night.

Day Two of the activation brought us better WX. It wasn’t so windy as yesterday. We started calling at 08:30 UTC, but there was very poor propagation. We only got TWO! In the log, that day. So we had a day with relaxing and calling for DX every 10mins, as we were laying in the sunshine reading the newspaper drinking beers and soda.

We ended the activation at 12:00 UTC, due to the poor propagation. The wind was also starting to pick up again, so we got to the ferry at 13:10 UTC.

At the way home, we drove to Mr. Carsten 47DX132 and his XYL Susanne, to deliver the antenna and battery.
Tnx for coffee and a quick bite, dear friends.
After that we were heading home and some hours later, the trip was over.

All together a nice relaxing trip, with 48 operators in the log. '

47DX/SJ-008 Oroe Island EU-029

I planned, in company with Majbritt, to have a two day excursion to the small and picturesque island of Oroe SJ008.

The records show that this island was last activated approximately 18 years ago, so for sure many island hunters will be pleased to read about this island activation.

Easter is over and we were safe home from Berlin/Germany.

Hi all..

Well Easter is allmost over and time for work again.. Pff..
Yesterdag i finaly got the G5RV wire up and running. It has been laying in the garage for a while now, and now was the time to get it on the roof of the house.

I maneged to install it as a inverted V. And is tuning perfectly in all bands from 80-10meters. beaming west and east..

My wife and me are also home safely from Berlin/Germany. I was listening on 555 all the way down there and also making several calls all the way.. But no propagation of what so ever.
Only when i was about 80km from Berlin a local station from Berlin (13AT322 Mr. Mike) answered my call.
I also had the pleasure to speak to him in Berlin also.
I was hoping to be able to install a antenna in the apartment we rented, but the balcony was clearly not useble for it and the antenna i brought from home did'nt work there, and i was stock with my mobile antenna from the window 15meters of the ground. But no propagation, only locals talking german on 555 FM.. Wird..

Allthough Berlin is a great city with many shopping opportunities, just ask my wife.. ;)
But hoped for better propagation, better luck next time... :)
On the way home to Denmark, i also had the radio on, and only got hold of 47DX002 Mr. Søren, after we got of the ferry in Rødby, who invited my wife and me to coffee on the way home, as we would pass him on the way home.
Tnx for coffee and Soda Søren.. :)
Well thats all for now...

Long time since last entry..

Hi all...

Wow havent been writing here for a long time.. Many things needed done and time just ran by. :)

Well season is allmost starting for the Sporatic e-skip in the summertime..
Cant wait anymore, its so quiet on the radio these days, and has been all winter.. The most quit one i can remember as operator on 11m..

Also in this entry i would like to announce that my wife and me has planed a trip to Berlin, and the trip is made by driving by car.. And ofcoase as a 11m operator i surely bring my radio and a ant.. Maybe also a base ant to work from the apartment we rented in southern part of Berlin.

Listen out for me from 6th to 9th of April. We drive from home at 8.00 in the morning danish time.
The drive down there is to take 6hours, so the 6th and 9th is traveling days on the road through Germany.
The call will be 13/47DX019 when we arrive to Berlin, and 47DX019/m and 13/47DX019/m on the drive down there..

Hope to hear something on the radio, but my hope isnt that high due to the lack of propagation these days...

Thats all for now, 73's freinds, and happy Easter days to all...
/Henrik DX019.
