Realy low periode for us in the north...

Wow, i cant remember when the radio has been as dead as it is now..
Its a realy borring periode for us in the high north..

So i did it.. Made a deal on the FT-1000..

Hey all.

So today i purchased my self the Yaesu FT-1000.
Wow its a great radio. I'm already in love with it. :-)

Along in the deal i also got a Heil HC4 Headset and a Yeasu MD-100 Mic.

Testing a FT-1000....

Sooo whats up, well the weather is not for antenna work.
So now im testing a Yaesu FT-1000 i maybe want to buy...

Its a old and heavy machine, and takes alot of space on the table, but its a beutiful and realy fine radio... 200W from the radio, pff.. Love it...

But got one problem, need some propagation to test it on.. ;)
Point your antennas to the north freinds.. :))

Soo now the antenna and mast's are in the air..

.. but the job is'nt finished yet..

It was a bit harder than exspected to do.. And the weight was surely higher than i ever thinked of.. Goosh it was hard to raise...

Some small things are still to be done witch is, the baduns and some small adjusting of the gamma before we can raise it to the full hight..

But the antenna is in the air and plugged in to the radio..

Carsten 47DX132 did'nt make the trip.. He was to busy fixing something at his own QTH.. Mayby next time Carsten.. ;)

Soo finaly my new antenna system is going up....

Well as i have spoken of some times, my new antenna system is going to be mounted saturday this weekend..

A new ZX Yagi 4elements and a new Yaesu G-1000DXC Rotator is planned to be mounted on a new mast system on my house.. It's planned to be about 12meters high, wich is the highst i can go dou to regional law in my area..
Also some HAM antennas is mounted later..
The old small beam 3Elm Yagi is to be dismounted and a GP Vertical is to mounted on that mast 8meters of the ground

I have prepered some small things before the "big" day.. :) And also some things is to be bought tomorrow..

The crew for the day is 47IR047 Mr. Jonel and maybe also 47DX132 Mr. Carsten.
Others neerby is more that welcome, hot coffee is surely on the table for visitors..

Im looking forward to putting up the new antenna and also working some new DXCC from it. :)

Sooo, where have i been lately??...

Well i have been of the radio for some time, not becouase the radio or antenna not working..
Just some things needed to be fixed elsewere in my life..

I've still not worked on the change of antenna system, but is to be done when time is for it..
Hopeforly before the WX changes....

The worst thing is, that the dumb stupido here first formatted the wrong disc, containing all my programmes and data... /DOHHH!!!

The rotator arrived today.....

My rotator has finaly arrived, only to se that something was missing.
Yea yea so i forgot to order extra mastclamps for polemast mount. :-/

They are being ordered today..
So now i only need the new masts to arrive, and my new mast system mounting is on the move..

I got a fellow Dx'ers help with me this time... Cant wait to get started..

The YAESU G-1000DXC rotator is now payd and on the way..

After some days in the sun and painting my house, it was time to search the netstores for the best price on the YAESU G-1000DXC.. A supportbearing was ordered also.. :)

So now im hunting some 50mm masts.. To get the ZX up to at least 11m of the ground..

Ordering a new rotator this week...

Well as some may know, i got myself a new antenna some months ago.
The 4elm ZX-Yagi is laying in the garage, just to be placed on the roof.
So a new rotator i needed, the one in use atm (the baby G250) cant handle the ZX.

So the last months some money was saved, and the choice has fallen on the Yaesu G1000... Sooo now the only thing is, to rebouild the antenna from the 12meters to 11meters band...

More to come on the antenna job. May need some help on this one.. ;)

Thunderstorms again today..

Damn i am getting tired of these thunderstorms coming in over our heads all the time. My coax has been out of the radio for almost 4 days now.. Realy boring..

Also today thunderstorms in my area.. :(

Also today we have some thunderstorms in my area, lightning strikes have been heard allmost all day with signal 6- 9.

Realy bad cuzz there some small propagation going on.. Mainly Central EU..
Some danish stations (John DX101 who else ;) ) Listened 2div today...

I was listening on 555...

But now a big thunderstorm comming my way, the coax is out here... Pfff...

After some days away from the radio, 158 div came in strong...

After some days away from the radio, i turned it on today.
And to my surprise 158div was very strong today. 158KP360 Mr. Barry was 5/8 here, many people calling him and it was hard to get a call in..

Also some small signals from North America came in, but nothing workeble for me. :(

Well hopely the weekend is giving us great propagation, i miss outsite EU for a change.. :)

Hoped for more from the states this evening...

After last nights opening to the states, i hoped for some more this evening/night.
But nothing came, only some small voices from the statesite, nothing workeble though..

Some small signals coming from 3div this evening, but only breaf..
Leif 47DX054 said that 2div were listened around 10:00 and 11:00 in several hours in the morning here...
Well were where I ? Out shopping and doing other things looong away from my radio.. Pfff.. Go Figure...

First time to 2div and 27div..

The night of 27' of june i made my first contact to 2div. 2OT001 was the first in the log from 2div.

Also same night 27div Iceland made it in, 27SM446 Simmi made it in as the first.

47DX/SJ27 Gavn Island (Gavn Ø)

On the 15' of June Søren 47DX002 and I made the trip to Gavn Island to activate it for the first time on 11meters.

This activation was part of the DXRC Island festival 08. It was a lot of fun and a good lesson for me, this was my first time on a small activation, i were for some time ago with Tom and Leif on 47DX/FY015 "Tåsinge Island". This activation is a little different from 47DX/FY015 "Tåsinge Island" due to the more primitive things on Gavn Island.


And big thanks goes to Søren for letting me get along, and for the first time see what this kind of activation is all about. The trip from my home to Gavn Island was about 1 hour and 15mins.

On my trip to the island i made a couple of qso's, first my wife who was at home making her hobby ;) and then John 47DX101 came in and said hi.

The Propagation was very poor this Sunday, really a pity because the day before the propagation was quite good, a little Aurora the night before Saturday may have killed the good propagation we had on Saturday.

The Equipment used was:- Antenna 1: 1 element quad - horizontal (primary antenna) - Antenna 2: 1/2 wave - vertical - antenna 3: 1/4 wave - vertical (Not used) - Radio: Yaesu FT-857- Radio2: Icom 706mk2G - Microphones: originals - Power: 300 watts from amplifier - logsystem: "in the log on a notebook". And my car for office and power :)
















From home Søren and me arranged that i brought lunch, and Søren brought something to drink. Søren also brought some chairs and a little table, it was used for the long lunch and nice and good conversation..

We only made 30 in the log due to the bad propagation. But we listened the guys from 212DX/EU002 Kumlinge Island several times, and also a fast hallo from Tom and Carsten on 47DX/SJ007 - Nekseloe Island about 60km away from us. Not to forget Leif on 47DX/SJ023 Bog Island.

We had a blast of WX sunshine all the time only paused with a little rain, nothing heavy it stopped right away. In fact I got a little burn on the left side of the face by the sun.. ;) The wind was a little heavy but the bamby and ½wave antennas made it all the way. We were most of the time waiting and calling and calling.

The stations in log was pulled in, almost all of them with little signal.
After lunch we took a little brake with a walk in the park near by the castle on the island, and took some pictures for proof.















I had in all an 8hour day trip for the activation.

Conclusion.
I was a little disappointed with the propagation.
But exited about my first time of this kind of activation...

Thanks a lot for a great time Søren.
This was surely not the last trip for me. :D
