47DX/SJ-013 Glænø (Glaen Island) activation report/story.
Hi all..
Well 47DX052 Mr. Tom and me had a great time on the activation..
So here's a short story from the day.
Tom 47DX052 made a visit to Carsten 47DX132 on Saturday and lent a
big battery and also a special antenna-foot for our trip, many
thanks for your help Carsten.
Sunday morning Tom 47DX052 arrived around 06:00 (GMT) at Henrik 47DX019, we loaded the car with all the equipment and drove to Glænø (Glaen Island). We used a half hour to set up the antenna and rig, on a fantastic location with great view over the sea..
We started working stations even before we had time to eat the brought coffee and breakfast.. :)) The first hour we made 101 operators in the log.. :) After lunch the propagation went a little down, but the band was all open, but no takers for us..
In all it was a fantastic day with very nice propagations and fantastic WX!! We even made some sunburn on arms and faces.. ;)
We ended the activation about 17:00 (GMT) and made the way home to 47DX019 Henrik's home, 1½hour later for coffee and small talk about the day...
We worked 199 stations into 20 DXCC’s , we would like to thank John 47DX101, Darran 26DX047 and Leif 47DX054 for the support.. And also a big thanks to all the operators that worked us..
And ohh yea.. I nearly forgot.. We also had time for a break for some well known danish pleasure, icecreme. :)
From my side i would like to thank Tom for a great day!! :)

Story of the 47DX/SJ008 to Oroe Island.
Well we are safe back home from our trip to Oeoe Island.
We had a great time over there with sunshine, heavy winds and a short rain period.
But here goes, a small resume follows..
We drove from home QTH early in the morning.
The first stop was at the QTH of Mr. Carsten 47dx132. He was kindly lending us his Bambi antenna and powerful battery. Tnx Carsten.
The first day of the activation on Oroe Island, was very windy, but at least the sun was shining down on us.
The DX camp was quickly set up and on the air at 08:00 UTC. We had about 30 in the log, in the first hour of the activation, nice. But propagation went down fast from 09:00 UTC and we decided to take down the camp and make a quick drive around the island at 10:30 UTC (12:30 danish time).
Later that day about 14:00 UTC, the DX camp was up again, at same location as in the start of the day. But the propagation was poor and we ended the day and got of air at 16:00 UTC.
The wind picked up and the Bambi was struggling in the wind. Therefore we went to a camp sight nearby, to stay for the night.
Day Two of the activation brought us better WX. It wasn’t so windy as yesterday. We started calling at 08:30 UTC, but there was very poor propagation. We only got TWO! In the log, that day. So we had a day with relaxing and calling for DX every 10mins, as we were laying in the sunshine reading the newspaper drinking beers and soda.
We ended the activation at 12:00 UTC, due to the poor propagation. The wind was also starting to pick up again, so we got to the ferry at 13:10 UTC.
At the way home, we drove to Mr. Carsten 47DX132 and his XYL Susanne, to deliver the antenna and battery.
Tnx for coffee and a quick bite, dear friends.
After that we were heading home and some hours later, the trip was over.
All together a nice relaxing trip, with 48 operators in the log. '
Pictures and proofs are on DXRC website: http://www.delta-xray.net/47dx_sj008_1.html

The records show that this island was last activated approximately 18 years ago, so for sure many island hunters will be pleased to read about this island activation.
